ACT have introduced within the Nine9 indexable range of spotting/chamfering tools, a 100 degree tool used in the UK aircraft industry.
100 degrees is the UK aircraft industry recognised standard for rivet and screw heads. Compared to conventional solid carbide/HSS tools, the Nine9 system offers indexable inserts with 4 edges, thereby allowing a fresh cutting without the need for resetting.
In addition to the time saved using replaceable inserts, the cutting geometries, grades and coatings allow, increased speeds and feeds, better accuracy and improved surface finishes.
